Money laundering legislation is one of those things that is an annoyance to all of us but it does make it harder for criminals to capitalise on their ill gotten gains.
I mean there's no point in robbing a bank anymore because you can't spend large cash sums without raising questions with the authorities.
I'd love to know where Putin hides all his stolen billions? You wouldn't want to be the accountant that set it up for him would you? I can't imagine Putin would want anyone to live to tell the tale of where his money (or rather the Russian people's money) is hidden...

That’s right mike there was a big case a few years back where hsbc got in a lot of shit for not doing anything to prevent a big money laundering scam. Since then they are covering their arses big time with such things, as are other banks

That's just the authorities being seen to "be doing something" about money laundering.
The stuff they should be going after still buys it's own ticket on it's own airline and they won't go after that for fear of shilling on their own doorstep..

I transfered a chunk of my savings to a different bank yesterday. Not even enough to buy a decent new car. They made me provide documentation to prove where the money came from. I had to send my work contract and, because I wasn't born in an EU country, a photo of my passport next to my face.
